City Attorney
The City Attorney is an officer of the City appointed by the City Council. The Attorney is charged with a number of diverse responsibilities, including:
- Advising elected and appointed officials and boards
- Advising employees on City related matters
- Reviewing and revising ordinances, policies, and procedures
- Drafting contracts and other agreements for the city
- Assisting with legislative matters

Aniz Alani brings 18 years of legal experience to the City of Dripping Springs, with a practice focused on municipal law, complex contract negotiation, legislative drafting, and open government compliance. Prior to his appointment as City Attorney, he served as the City's Deputy City Attorney since 2024.
His background includes serving as the chief legal officer for a rapidly growing municipality of 165,000 residents, where he managed a legal department and supported diverse operations ranging from public safety to international airport management. He also served as the corporate secretary and in-house legal counsel for a government-owned electrical utility with over 1.9 million customers, and as a litigation associate at a multinational law firm. Aniz is committed to innovation in legal services and has successfully implemented technology solutions to modernize contract workflows and track state legislation.
