City Secretary
The City Secretary's Office is charged with a number of diverse responsibilities, including:
- Serves as the Custodian of Records and Records Management Officer for the City.
- Manages the City's Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act Compliance.
- Coordinates the City Council, and Boards and Commissions Agenda Process
- Serves as the Filing Authority and Chief Elections Officer for the City.
- Official Filing Office for Applications for Appointment to Boards, Commissions and Committees, Public Comment, and Petitions.
- Responds to Open Records Requests.
- Notary Public Services

Records Management
All documents created in the transaction of public business are declared records of the City and shall be created, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with the provisions and procedures as provided by Chapter 2, Division 3. Records Management Program, of the Code of Ordinances. It is the responsibility of the City Secretary to implement and manage all aspects of the City's records storage and destruction program. The City follows the guidelines for records maintenance as prescribed by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
Public Information Act Requests
The Texas Public Information Act was enacted in 1973, and later repealed and replaced by the Public Information Act in 1993 as codified in the Texas Government Code Chapter 552. The Act allows citizens access to documents created by and for the City of Dripping Springs. Requests for information must be submitted to the City in writing by:
- EMAIL: Email your request to [email protected]
- IN-PERSON: Stop by City Hall, located at 511 Mercer Street, and submit a written request to the City Secretary.
- MAIL: Requests can be sent by mail to the City Secretary, City of Dripping Springs, P.O. Box 384, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
- ONLINE SUBMITTAL: Requests can filed using our Public Information Request Portal.
Please allow up to ten business days for processing. If a request cannot filled within ten business days you will be contacted with an estimated time of completion.
The Public Information Act does not require a governmental body to create new information, conduct legal research, or answer questions. It is only required to provide access to, or copies of city records that are already in existence.
Boards, Commissions and Committees
One of the best ways to participate in your local government is to volunteer to serve on one of our Commissions/Committees/Boards. Information regarding responsibilities, membership and meeting times can be found on each board, commission or committee page.
